WHO WE ARE
With respect for tradition, cultural heritage, local needs, his natal Rethymno as springboard, and utilising his 50 years of experience in the tourism sector, Nikos Daskalantonakis has made reality of his vision to create an institution that will support and showcase the role of education, culture, and the primary sector in Greece’s growth.
The Organization’s primary aim is to award scholarships to young people, enabling them to continue their studies, chiefly in the field of tourism. Our belief in the country's human potential and the return and prosperity of the new generation to its homeland are the main pillars of this initiative.
A second field for the OrganizationOrganization’s work is the inextricable bond between culture and tourism, with emphasis on the continuation and promotion of the excavations at Ancient Eleutherna and the operation of the new Museum of Ancient Eleutherna. The Organization will thus support activities that respect and promote scientific research. Our aim is to contribute to the recognition of Ancient Eleutherna as a global destination as well as a beacon for similar initiatives throughout Greece.
A third area of activity is to link the primary sector of Crete—and Greece—to tourism. Our aim is to substantively support local producers and better promotion of their products. This requires proper information, continuous training, relationships of trust, and belief in the Cretan and Greek land as an inexhaustible source of quality products across time that are also adaptable to development and change.
The Nikos Daskalantonakis Organization was born out of the dedication of its Founder and President to contributing to society, to young people, and to our culture and is a beacon of optimism and hope. Its guiding principle is that supporting the country’s productive forces and promoting innovative ideas can establish Greece as a global brand name and a universal value.
